Airport Pickup in Japan: How Meet & Greet and 90 Minutes of Free Waiting Work

· Updated

What to prepare before booking a Japan airport pickup with Sakura Travel: meet & greet sign, 90 minutes of free waiting for pickups, 24-hour service, and the late-night surcharge.

For a first-time airport pickup in Japan, the usual questions are: what details do I need to send, how do I find the driver after landing, and what if immigration or baggage takes longer than planned? This guide sets out how a Sakura Travel pickup works.

Before you book: what to prepare

Submit the following on the booking page and our team will confirm the vehicle and fare:

  1. Date and flight: arrival date, flight number and scheduled landing time.
  2. Passengers and luggage: the vehicle is chosen by seats and bags: ECO 5 seats / 4 bags, Alphard 7 seats / 6 bags, Hiace 10 seats / 9 bags.
  3. Passenger name: the driver uses it on the meet & greet sign, so enter a name that matches your passport and is easy to read.
  4. Destination: hotel name and address.
  5. Child seats: if children are travelling, state how many seats you need. Child safety seats and booster seats are available.

After landing: meet & greet and free waiting

  • Meet & greet sign: the driver waits with a name sign; you meet them as described in your booking confirmation.
  • 90 minutes of free waiting: airport pickups include 90 minutes of free waiting, leaving room for immigration, baggage collection and buying a SIM card.
  • Flight changes: if your flight time changes, tell our team as soon as possible. How a delay is handled is confirmed by customer service.

For arrival procedures at each airport, rely on the official sources: Narita Airport and Haneda Airport.

Late-night and early-morning arrivals

Service runs 24 hours a day. A flat ¥4,000 applies between 22:00 and 06:00, whatever the destination. For example, a Haneda ECO ride within Tokyo is on request normally and on request + ¥4,000 = on request in that window (tax included, per vehicle). More on late arrivals: Haneda to Tokyo.

Cost summary

  • One price across Tokyo from Narita or Haneda (tax included, one way, per vehicle): Haneda ECO on request Alphard ¥15,000 Hiace ¥17,000; Narita ECO on request Alphard ¥22,000 Hiace ¥27,000.
  • Tolls and parking are included; nothing is added after the trip.
  • Per-vehicle pricing, regardless of passenger count, within the seat and luggage limits.
  • Want to shop or eat on the way? Extra stops can be arranged on request.

Route details: Narita to Tokyo and Haneda to Tokyo.
