The international hub of the Chubu region, the elegant gateway to Nagoya. From the airport, feel Nagoya's industrial prowess and food culture within half an hour.
Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO), also known as Centrair, is built on an artificial island in Ise Bay and is an award-winning modern airport. About 40 km from Nagoya city center, it takes roughly 40–50 minutes to reach Nagoya Station or Sakae shopping district via the Chita Peninsula Road and Nagoya Expressway. Centrair serves not only Nagoya but also acts as the perfect gateway to Gifu (Shirakawa-go, Takayama), Mie (Ise Grand Shrine), and Nagano (Kamikochi). The airport itself is worth exploring — the 4th-floor "Fu no Yu" observation bath lets you soak in a hot spring while watching planes take off and land, the only airport in Japan with a natural onsen.
Centrair has only one terminal with a straightforward arrival flow — walk straight ahead after customs to reach the pickup hall. The airport design is exceptionally user-friendly; a name-sign pickup in the center of the 2nd-floor arrival hall can be arranged. Travelers heading to Shirakawa-go or Takayama please note: mountain roads may be snow-covered in winter (December–March). We automatically equip winter tires to ensure safe travel.
