Haneda or Narita to Kamakura and Enoshima: Private Transfer Prices, Travel Time and Luggage Tips

· Updated

Going from Haneda or Narita to a hotel in Kamakura or Enoshima by train means several changes; a private car goes door to door. Haneda from on request Narita from on request (ECO, tax included), tolls and parking included, priced per car.

Kamakura and Enoshima are popular places to stay near Tokyo: temples, coastline and old streets in one area, and a quieter evening than the city. Getting there from the airport is less direct than it looks, though — by train you usually head into central Tokyo, change once or twice, and then walk to your hotel. This article sets out the private-car prices from Haneda and Narita straight to Kamakura and Enoshima, and how to choose between the options. If you plan a round-trip day out from Tokyo visiting sights in order, see our Kamakura and Enoshima day-trip charter guide instead.

By train: best for light luggage and hotels near a station

Reaching Kamakura by train from the airport generally means going through central Tokyo or the Yokohama area to change onto a JR line, then continuing on foot, on the Enoshima Electric Railway (Enoden) or by bus depending on where your hotel is. Timetables and fares change by season and ticket type, so we give no figures here — please check the official sites:

If you carry one or two small bags and your hotel is next to Kamakura Station or an Enoden stop, the train works well. With large suitcases, a stroller or older relatives — and after a long flight — several changes get tiring.

Private car, door to door: prices and travel time

One-way, priced per car, tax included, tolls and parking included. Travel times are rough off-peak estimates.

From Approx. drive ECO (5 seats) Alphard (7 seats) Hiace (10 seats)

Narita 120–150 min on request ¥60,000 ¥70,000
  • Per-car pricing: 4 people in an ECO from Haneda pay about on request each; 6 people in an Alphard about ¥7,500 each. From Narita, about on request and ¥10,000 respectively.
  • 90 minutes of free waiting for arrivals: flight delays or a slow immigration queue are covered.
  • Child seats available: up to 3 child safety seats and 2 booster seats per booking.
  • Late-night surcharge: a flat ¥4,000 for services between 22:00 and 06:00.
  • 24-hour service: early-morning arrivals and late departures can both be arranged.

Note that Kamakura is outside Tokyo Metropolis, so its fares differ from Haneda to Central Tokyo and Narita to Central Tokyo, and the Tokyo flat rate does not apply. See the route pages for Haneda to Kamakura · Enoshima and Narita to Kamakura · Enoshima.

Haneda or Narita?

The difference between the two airports is large for Kamakura: the drive from Haneda is roughly half that from Narita, and the one-way ECO fare is on request lower. If you can choose your flight, Haneda saves both time and money on this trip. If you are landing at Narita, a direct car is especially worth considering to avoid several transfers after a long flight.

Practical tips for arrival day

  • Streets around Kamakura's old town and temples are narrow, and some hotels cannot be reached by a large vehicle right at the door. Give us the hotel name and address (a Japanese name or map link helps) when booking, and confirm the exact drop-off point with customer service.
  • Hotel check-in is usually in the afternoon. If you arrive in the early morning or around noon, ask your hotel in advance about leaving luggage.
  • Need a stop on the way (for example, a supermarket)? Let us know in advance and we'll arrange it, up to 3 stops per booking.

What to prepare before booking

  1. Date, arrival flight and expected departure time.
  2. Hotel name and address.
  3. Number of passengers, pieces of luggage, and whether children are travelling.
