From Atami or Izu Back to Narita or Haneda: Departure Timing and Private Transfer Prices

· Updated

Heading from Atami or the Izu Peninsula to Haneda or Narita is a long drive, so work backwards from your flight. Private transfer prices: Atami to Haneda from ¥50,000, South/West Izu to Haneda from ¥55,000, per vehicle, tax included, tolls included.

After check-out, the trip from the Izu Peninsula to the airport needs more careful planning than the trip out: your flight time is fixed, while peninsula roads and holiday traffic are not. This article explains how to work out your departure time from your flight, and lists our private transfer prices from Atami and Izu to both Tokyo airports. It covers the return leg only.

Work Backwards from Your Flight

  1. Check your airline's check-in deadline. Rules differ by airline and terminal, so please follow the airline's website; we do not quote specific figures here.
  2. Add time inside the airport. For baggage drop, security and departure procedures, see the official airport information: Narita Airport, Haneda Airport.
  3. Subtract the drive. Atami · East Izu to Haneda is about 100–150 minutes and to Narita about 150–210 minutes; South/West Izu to Haneda is about 180–270 minutes and to Narita about 240–300 minutes (rough off-peak estimates).
  4. Leave a traffic buffer. Coastal roads on the peninsula and the expressways towards Tokyo can be congested on weekends and holidays. Be conservative, especially from South and West Izu, where the drive is long.

Give us your flight number and departure time when booking, and our staff will confirm the pick-up time with you.

Trains and Buses

From Atami, the usual route is the Shinkansen or a JR line into Tokyo, then an airport train or bus. From Ito or Atagawa in East Izu, you first take the Izukyu Line to Atami or connect to JR. From South and West Izu, you often need a bus to a nearby station first. Timetables and fares change by season, so please check the official sites:

The return trip involves several changes. With large suitcases, a stroller or elderly travellers, a private car from your hotel straight to the airport saves carrying and transfers.
