How to Choose
These are pointers, not a ranking:
- Shorter time on the road, with hot springs and seaside walks as the focus: Atami / East Izu is closer to the airport, and from Haneda it also costs less.
- Shimoda's beaches, the sea caves and sunsets at Dogashima, or a quiet coastal inn: South / West Izu is the main choice, but expect a longer drive.
- West Izu: there is no railway, so rail travellers usually go to a nearby station and change to a bus. A direct private transfer removes those changes.
- One or two nights only: travel time takes a large share of the stay, so Atami / East Izu is usually the better fit.
- Travelling with older relatives or children: a long ride can be tiring, so consider splitting the journey. Child seats are available; let us know when you book.
We have no published price for a trip linking the two areas; describe your plan on the booking page and our team will confirm feasibility and the amount.
Train or Private Transfer?
Train and bus routes, timetables and fares change by season, so we give no figures here. Please check the official sites:
- JR East: https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/
- JR Central (Tokaido Shinkansen): https://global.jr-central.co.jp/en/
- Izukyu: https://www.izukyu.co.jp/
- Tokai Bus: https://www.tokaibus.jp/
With lots of luggage, a larger group, a late arrival, or a hotel on a hillside or the coast, a direct transfer usually saves the most changes. Choose by luggage count: the Alphard seats 7 with space for 6 bags, the Hiace seats 10 with space for 9.
Before You Book
- Date, arrival flight and expected departure time.
