Heading from Hakuba, Nagano or Echigo-Yuzawa to Narita or Haneda with ski gear means a long drive, so plan backwards from your flight. Private transfer prices: ECO on request to either airport; Alphard ¥75,000 to Haneda or ¥90,000 to Narita; Hiace ¥80,000 to Haneda or ¥100,000 to Narita, per vehicle, tax included, tolls included.
On the last day of a ski trip you are usually hauling skis, boots and damp gear to the airport. Hakuba, Nagano and Echigo-Yuzawa are a long way from Narita and Haneda, and winter road conditions are hard to predict, so your departure time has to be worked out backwards from your flight. This guide explains how, and lists private transfer prices. For the trip out, see Narita & Haneda to Hakuba and Yuzawa.
Work backwards from your flight
- Check your airline's check-in cut-off. It differs by airline and terminal; please use the airline's website. We do not quote specific numbers here.
- Add time inside the airport. Baggage drop (including ski gear), security and immigration: see the official airport sites for Narita and Haneda.
- Subtract the drive. In normal conditions, from Hakuba it is roughly 3.5–5 hours to Narita and 3–4.5 hours to Haneda. For Echigo-Yuzawa the drive differs; our team will confirm based on your accommodation.
- Add a buffer. Mountain roads are prone to congestion in snow season and holidays, and snow or closures are possible. Estimate conservatively.
Give us your flight number and departure time when booking and our team will confirm the pickup time with you. For a morning flight, consider staying near Tokyo the night before rather than leaving in the small hours.
Shinkansen and buses
Public transport usually means a bus or Shinkansen back to Tokyo, then an airport train or bus, with several changes. Timetables and fares change by season; please check the official sites. We do not quote specific numbers:
- JR East: https://www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/
- ALPICO Transport (Hakuba buses): https://visit-nagano.alpico.co.jp/timetable/hakuba
Every change means carrying ski bags and suitcases; please check the rail operator's notices on oversized luggage beforehand. A private car goes from your accommodation straight to the airport, with no carrying or transfers.
Private transfer to the airport: prices
Hakuba, Nagano and Echigo-Yuzawa share one price zone. One-way, priced per vehicle, tax included, tolls and parking included:
| Vehicle | Seats | Luggage | Haneda | Narita |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ECO 5-seater sedan | 5 | 4 pieces | on request | on request |
| Toyota Alphard | 7 | 6 pieces | ¥75,000 | ¥90,000 |
| Toyota Hiace | 10 | 9 pieces | ¥80,000 | ¥100,000 |
- Per-vehicle pricing: taking Haneda as an example, 6 people in an Alphard is ¥12,500 each; 8 people in a Hiace is ¥10,000 each; 10 people in a Hiace is ¥8,000 each.
- Night and early-morning surcharge: a flat ¥4,000 from 22:00 to 06:00, for example ECO on request + ¥4,000 = on request.
- Child seats available: up to 3 child safety seats and 2 booster seats per booking.
- 24-hour service: early flights and late departures can be arranged.
These prices are the one-way rates between this zone and the airports; please confirm with our team whether the departure price matches the pickup price. See the route pages for Narita to Hakuba, Nagano & Yuzawa and Haneda to Hakuba, Nagano & Yuzawa.
Choosing a vehicle for ski gear
Ski luggage usually means large suitcases, ski bags and boot bags. Luggage matters more than headcount:
- Alphard (7 seats, 6 pieces): for 4–6 people with moderate luggage.
- Hiace (10 seats, 9 pieces): for groups, or smaller parties with a lot of gear.
- Ski bags are long: whether they fit, and how many, depends on actual length. State the type and number of items when booking; our team will confirm, and can arrange two vehicles if needed.
For a fuller comparison, see Alphard vs Hiace.
Haneda or Narita?
From Hakuba, Nagano and Yuzawa, the ECO price is the same for both airports, so choose by flight, terminal and airline; for the Alphard and Hiace, Haneda is cheaper. In normal conditions the drive to Haneda is shorter.
What to have ready when booking
- Date, flight number and departure time.
- Pickup area (Hakuba, Nagano city or Echigo-Yuzawa) and your accommodation's name and address (ideally in Japanese or with a map link).
- Number of passengers, luggage pieces and ski items, and whether children are travelling.
- A phone number the driver can reach.

FAQ
- How much is a private transfer from Hakuba, Nagano or Yuzawa to Narita or Haneda?
- The three areas share one price zone. One-way, per vehicle, tax included: ECO 5-seater on request to either Narita or Haneda; Alphard (7 seats) ¥75,000 to Haneda or ¥90,000 to Narita; Hiace (10 seats) ¥80,000 to Haneda or ¥100,000 to Narita. Tolls and parking are included. A ¥4,000 surcharge applies from 22:00 to 06:00. Please confirm with our team whether the departure price matches the pickup price; all quotes are subject to confirmation by a live agent.
- What time should I leave from Hakuba or Yuzawa for an early flight?
- Work backwards from your airline's check-in cut-off, then subtract driving time and a buffer. In normal conditions the drive from Hakuba is roughly 3.5–5 hours to Narita and 3–4.5 hours to Haneda; for Echigo-Yuzawa our team will confirm based on your accommodation. Winter drives can take longer, so for a morning flight we suggest moving to Tokyo the night before.
- Will my skis and snowboards fit?
- An Alphard holds 6 pieces of luggage and a Hiace holds 9, but ski bags are long, so how many fit depends on their length. Please state the type and number of items when booking so our team can confirm the vehicle; a second vehicle can be arranged if needed.
- Does snow affect the transfer?
- Yes. Mountain roads in winter may have snow, ice or closures, and actual travel time depends on weather and traffic. Please allow extra buffer and check with our team before you set off.
- Can you provide child seats?
- Yes. Child safety seats and booster seats are available, up to 3 child seats and 2 boosters per booking.
