A private driver gives you a flexible day with no timetables to follow, but first-time bookers are often unsure what to decide first. This guide covers the six things to settle before you book, along with prices by destination so you can budget before submitting a request.
1. Choose your destination
Prices depend on the destination. The table below shows full-day charter prices starting and ending in Tokyo. Amounts are in yen, per vehicle, tax included, with tolls and parking included:
| Destination | ECO (5 seats) | Alphard (7 seats) | Hiace (10 seats) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central Tokyo | on request | ¥45,000 | ¥50,000 |
| Yokohama | on request | ¥50,000 | ¥55,000 |
| Kamakura · Enoshima | on request | ¥55,000 | ¥60,000 |
| Hakone · Mt. Fuji | on request | ¥60,000 | ¥70,000 |
| Atami · East Izu | on request | ¥70,000 | ¥80,000 |
| South/West Izu | on request | ¥70,000 | ¥80,000 |
| Karuizawa · Nikko | on request | ¥70,000 | ¥80,000 |
| Hakuba · Nagano · Yuzawa | on request | ¥90,000 | ¥100,000 |
If you want to combine several destinations in one day, such as Yokohama and Kamakura, please ask our team about price and feasibility rather than assuming the same rate applies.
2. Confirm the service hours
A charter starting and ending in Tokyo covers 10 hours; overtime is ¥3,000 for every additional 30 minutes. For farther destinations the round trip takes a large share of the day, so estimate how much time you will actually have at each stop before deciding whether to extend.
3. Pick a vehicle by passengers and luggage
Pricing is per vehicle with no per-person surcharge, so the more people share, the lower the cost per head. Check both seats and luggage:
- ECO 5-seat sedan: 5 seats, 4 pieces of luggage.
- Alphard: 7 seats, 6 pieces of luggage.
- Hiace: 10 seats, 9 pieces of luggage.
For a closer comparison, see Alphard vs Hiace and the Hiace vehicle page.
4. Decide whether you need extra stops
Extra stops can be arranged along the way, up to 3 per booking. A quick shopping or lunch stop on the way rarely needs special planning; if you want to detour to another area, mention it when booking so our team can check the timing.
5. Tell us about early starts and late finishes
We operate 24 hours a day, so early departures and late returns can be arranged. Service between 22:00 and 06:00 carries a flat ¥4,000 surcharge, so include it in your budget.
6. Travelling with children or older relatives
Child safety seats and booster seats are available, up to 3 child seats and 2 booster seats per booking. Let us know the number and ages of the children when you book so the seats are ready.
What to prepare before booking
- Date, pick-up point and drop-off point.
- The areas you want to visit and the rough order.
- Number of passengers, pieces of luggage, and whether children are travelling.
- Preferred start and return times.
Reading the prices correctly
- The table shows reference prices for full-day charters starting and ending in Tokyo, not a final quote for every itinerary; date, itinerary and actual requirements may affect the final amount.
- The night surcharge is charged separately and is not included in the table.
- If you only need a one-way ride between the airport and the city, an airport transfer is the better fit: see Haneda to Tokyo and Narita to Tokyo.
