Nabana no Sato illumination access from Centrair: about 40 minutes by car, the official arrive-before times, return windows, and Christmas ticket rules.
The Nabana no Sato illumination runs from mid-October to the end of May, and plenty of visitors want to see it on the evening they land at Chubu Centrair. For Nabana no Sato illumination access, distance is not the problem. Timing is. The venue itself names a window on the way in and another on the way out when the roads jam, and landing flights need to fit around them.
About 40 minutes from Centrair, if you take the right roads
Nabana no Sato is in Nagashima, Kuwana, Mie Prefecture. The official access page gives about 40 minutes by car from Chubu Centrair and about 30 minutes by expressway from Nagoya. These are the venue's own guide figures and depend on traffic.
The venue's route advice:
- Arriving: Route 23 and the Ise-Wangan Expressway (Wangan-Nagashima IC) run well; Route 1 and the Tomei-Hanna Expressway are expected to jam.
- Leaving: it recommends detouring back onto the Ise-Wangan Expressway; Route 1 and the Tomei-Hanna jam, and Route 23 is crowded too.
When you book, tell us the destination is Nabana no Sato and your entry and return times; the route is confirmed by our staff.
Planning landing day: before 16:00 or 15:00, or leave late
The venue's suggested times for avoiding crowds:
| Weekdays | Weekends and holidays | |
|---|---|---|
| Arrive | before 16:00 | before 15:00 |
| Leave | after 19:00 | after 20:00 |
The lights come on from sunset until closing, so most people who land around midday go in during the afternoon, look around the gardens, and wait for dark. As a rough estimate on a weekday: land at 12:00, clear immigration and baggage, leave the airport at about 13:30, and arrive between 14:10 and 14:40, well before 16:00. On a weekend, aim to land an hour earlier. Immigration times vary by flight, so treat this as an estimate.
A late-evening landing is not a good fit for the same night. Admission closes 30 minutes before closing time, and the daily hours are shown on the official hours calendar. It is easier to check into Nagoya and go the next afternoon.
Christmas dates, closed days and tickets
Check these before fixing your flights:
- December 23-25: date-specified, first-come tickets, collected in advance at a convenience store; window sales on the day only if tickets remain. Opening is from 15:00 on these three days (official illumination page). If your flight lands on one of these dates, buy the ticket before booking the car.
- Closed: January 6 and 7, 2027.
- Season: October 17, 2026 to May 31, 2027.
Sort out tickets before you arrive. The official pages do not say where luggage can be stored, so tell us how many bags you have when booking and we will confirm the arrangement.
Train and bus versus a private car
The official train route is Kintetsu from Nagoya to Kintetsu-Nagashima Station (about 25 minutes by semi-express, about 17 by express), then a shuttle bus of about 10 minutes, running every 20 to 60 minutes. There is no direct bus from Kuwana Station. From Centrair you would first travel to Nagoya, then change to Kintetsu, with suitcases the whole way. If you stay for the late hours, the infrequent buses make the return harder to time. Bus details are on the official access page.
For two or more people with luggage, a private car goes from the airport to the venue and then to your Nagoya hotel with no changes. To drop bags in the city first, see Chubu Airport to central Nagoya and train or private car from Chubu to Nagoya; for a late landing, see arriving late at Chubu Airport.
