What does a private car cost for one person from Narita or Haneda to central Tokyo? Haneda ECO on request Narita ECO on request per vehicle, tax included. When a solo transfer makes sense, and when trains or buses fit better.
Private transfers are priced per vehicle, so one passenger pays the same as three. For a solo traveller the cost per head is therefore at its highest, and whether it is worth it depends on luggage, arrival time and preference. This guide uses Narita and Haneda pickups in Tokyo as the example.
The cost for one person
Within Tokyo, one way, per vehicle, tax included. Tolls and parking are included, and the price is the same across Tokyo.
| From | ECO 5-seat sedan |
|---|---|
| Haneda | on request |
| Narita | on request |
For one passenger, the table shows the full fare. If the ride falls between 22:00 and 06:00, add a flat ¥4,000 (Haneda ECO on request Narita ECO on request).
When a private car suits a solo traveller
- Late-night or early-morning arrival: the last trains may have gone, or the journey needs several changes. Our service runs 24 hours and follows your flight.
- Heavy luggage: the ECO takes 4 bags, with no carrying through stations or up stairs.
- First time in Japan: a driver meets you with a name sign and takes you to the hotel door.
- Wanting to rest after a long flight: no transfers and no ticket queues.
- Departing from Haneda: Haneda is close to the city, so on request is easier to justify.
When you may not need one
- Light luggage, daytime arrival and no objection to changing trains: trains or buses are usually cheaper. Fares and timetables change, so check the operators directly: JR East, Keikyu, Airport Limousine.
- Arriving at Narita: the fare is higher, so the solo cost weighs more. Compare the alternatives first.
Lowering the cost per person
Because pricing is per vehicle, sharing with a friend or a travelling companion on the same flight cuts the cost per head. For example, Haneda ECO at on request is on request each for two people. This is our own division, for reference.
Other notes
