Private transfers from Narita and Haneda cost the same across Tokyo: from ¥15,000 from Haneda and ¥22,000 from Narita, tax included. Your neighbourhood does not change the fare, so choose by itinerary, budget and party size.
"Where should I stay in Tokyo?" is the question first-time visitors ask most often. From an airport transfer point of view there is good news: our fares from Narita and Haneda are the same across Tokyo. Staying in Shinjuku or Asakusa does not change the transfer cost, so you can choose your area by itinerary and the hotel itself.
Transfer prices: one rate across Tokyo
One way, per vehicle, tax included:

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Haneda | on request | ¥15,000 | ¥17,000 | about 30–45 min |
| Narita | on request | ¥22,000 | ¥27,000 | about 60–90 min |
- Prices are per vehicle, regardless of the number of passengers, as long as you stay within the seats and luggage count.
- Tolls and parking fees are included.
- Service runs 24 hours; trips between 22:00 and 06:00 carry a flat ¥4,000 surcharge.
- Airport pickups include 90 minutes of free waiting.
- Tokyo Disney Resort (Chiba) and Yokohama (Kanagawa) are outside the Tokyo-wide rate and are priced separately.

If the fare is the same, how do you choose an area?
There is no need to pick an area to save on the transfer. Consider these angles instead:
| Area | Suits | Things to note |
|---|---|---|
| Shinjuku | First-time visitors, shopping and dining | Many hotels across a wide price range |
| Shibuya, Harajuku | Younger travellers, shopping and trends | Lively, busy in the evening |
| Asakusa, Ueno | Old streets, temples and museums | More traditional feel; some hotels sit in side streets |
| Tokyo Station, Marunouchi, Ginza | Business trips, Shinkansen connections | Transport hub; hotels lean mid to upper price |
| Shinagawa | Frequent Shinkansen or Haneda trips | Convenient transport |
| Odaiba, Toyosu, Ariake | Events and venues, bay views | A little further from the centre |
This is a general guide only; your own itinerary and budget come first. For area-by-area detail, see our other location guides on the site.
What your area does not change, and what it does
- Luggage. Arriving with large bags, a private car takes you from the airport to the hotel door, with no train changes or carrying.
- Party size. Pricing is per vehicle. For 4 people on a Haneda ECO at on request that is about on request each; from Narita at on request about on request each. For larger groups, consider an Alphard or Hiace, within the seat and luggage limits.
- Arrival time. For late-night or early-morning arrivals, a private car straight to the hotel can be easier. Service runs 24 hours, with a ¥4,000 surcharge between 22:00 and 06:00.
- Several hotels. If you change hotels during the trip, any stay within Tokyo gets the same fare from the airport, which makes budgeting simple.
