Chubu Airport to Inuyama Castle: Timing, Drop-Off, Luggage

· Updated

Chubu Airport to Inuyama is about 1–1.5 hours by car; castle last entry is 16:30. Whether your landing time works, plus castle-town drop-off and luggage.

Inuyama Castle is a National Treasure, and its official site describes its keep as the oldest surviving one in Japan. Below it, the castle town keeps its old streetscape and is made for wandering. If you want to go from Chubu Airport to Inuyama on arrival day, two things need working out first: whether you will arrive before last entry, and where the car stops and what happens to your luggage.

Chubu Airport to Inuyama: landing time and last entry

According to the official Inuyama Castle site:

  • Open 9:00–17:00, last entry 16:30.
  • Closed 29–31 December.
  • Entry may be limited when busy, and the site publishes a year-round crowd forecast.

A notice dated 6 October 2026 also mentions partial entry restrictions during repair work on the keep's railings (notice), so check the latest before you go.

The drive from Chubu Airport to Inuyama is usually about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Roughly:

  • Landing before midday: visit the castle in the afternoon, then stroll the castle town.
  • Landing in the afternoon: you will arrive close to last entry, possibly with weekend queues. Check in and visit the next morning instead.

The castle town: drop-off and luggage

The main castle-town streets are mostly explored on foot, and there are city-run car parks around the castle (see the Inuyama tourism association's parking page; fees and hours change on some dates).

Neither the keep nor the castle-town streets suit suitcases, so there are two common approaches:

  1. Staying in Inuyama: drop your luggage at the inn first, then visit the castle unburdened.
  2. Visiting and returning to Nagoya the same day: the car waits with your luggage during the visit. Tell us your expected visit length when booking.

Tell us where you would like to be dropped off, picked up and waited for, and our team will confirm the arrangement.

Group size and vehicle
