Red-eye flights from Asia often touch down at Haneda around daybreak, while most Tokyo hotels do not check you in until the afternoon. With an early arrival in Tokyo before check-in, the hard part of the gap is rarely deciding where to go. It is that you have not had a shower, and your suitcases have nowhere to be.
Before or after 06:00 makes a difference
Rides between 22:00 and 06:00 carry a ¥4,000 surcharge. Haneda to anywhere in Tokyo by Alphard is ¥15,000, or ¥19,000 for an early-morning ride. After 06:00, the standard fare applies. We operate 24 hours a day, so a pickup can be arranged whatever time you land (see arriving at Narita or Haneda early in the morning).
If you land close to 06:00, the first option below also moves your ride past 06:00. Put your preferred pickup time in the booking and our team will confirm it.
Option one: freshen up at Haneda, then go
Haneda Terminal 3 (international) has shower rooms open 24 hours. Terminal 2's shower rooms open 5:00 to 22:00, and Terminal 1 has none. Reservations are not taken; see Haneda Airport shower rooms.
Shower, have breakfast, then ride into the city in full daylight, feeling human again.
Option two: leave your bags at the hotel before check-in, then head out
Many hotels will hold your luggage before check-in, but policies vary. Ask before you fly, and check whether the front desk is staffed early in the morning.
The car takes you from Haneda to the hotel entrance; you leave the suitcases and go out with a day bag. If you already know your first stop, say breakfast at Tsukiji Outer Market, add it to the booking: hotel first for the bags, then on to the first stop. This suits families with children or older relatives best: no one drags a suitcase, and the kids can nap in the car. Haneda to central Tokyo takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic, and the fare is the same for every Tokyo ward; see Haneda to Tokyo.
Option three: send the luggage on its own
If you want to start sightseeing the moment you land, without even stopping at the hotel, a delivery service can take your bags. Without big luggage the train is an option, but for a family or a group with older relatives, a car straight from the airport is still the easiest start.
